Sawadee ka! (Hello!)
My name is Deanna and welcome to my blog, Teach. Eat. Travel. Repeat! I am a recent college graduate who decided to put my conventional life on hold to truly live. And what better way to live than to move 8,585 miles from my South Jersey home to the Land of Smiles (AKA Thailand)?
As a teacher, I consider myself extremely lucky to be in a profession where I am constantly able to learn and connect with others- whether this be in the United States or elsewhere in the world. This blog will highlight my 3 greatest passions in life:
Teaching: I have a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and American Studies, with endorsements in Middle School Social Studies and Teacher of Students with Disabilities. I can’t imagine myself in another profession. Simple as that.
Eating: I am a self-proclaimed foodie. Anyone who knows me knows that cooking nutritious meals and coming up with new recipes are two of my favorite hobbies. For more on this, check out my other blog, Health Without Sacrifice.
Traveling: I got my first dose of wanderlust when I traveled to India to teach in several villages. Traveling in a country that has a different set of values, rules, and norms was a humbling and an eye-opening experience. I felt like I grew so much from that trip – even though it was only in two weeks! So, when I heard about the opportunity to teach for a year in Thailand, all I could think about is what I could learn from connecting with new people and being immersed in a new culture.
I am so excited to be able to share my journey in Thailand with you! Hopefully this blog will help awaken the adventurer in you (whether it be in your hometown or halfway around the world!)
